Rules for the Tournament
General Rules – with exceptions within each age group
- There will be a Team Manager’s meeting at 09.45am each day. All teams must be registered BEFORE the Team Manager’s meeting. The first league game will commence at 10.00am.
- All competing Clubs must be affiliated to the respective County FA.
- Matches will be plays in accordance with the recognised ‘laws of the game’.
- All teams/players are advised to ensure they have their own insurance cover.
- No player in their age group can play below/above their specified age group.
- No player who is signed on by a Professional Club, an Academy player or School of Excellence player is eligible to play from u10’s upwards.
- Representative sides are not permitted to enter.
- Any misconduct by players or officials will be reported to their appropriate County FA.
- All teams will embrace the current ‘Respect’ campaign.
- For any reason a team fails to play a fixture the opposition will automatically be credited with a 1-0 victory.
- All questions of eligibility of a player or interpretation of rules shall be referred to the Tournament Director, whose decision, if required, will be final.
- Teams are asked to warm up adjacent to the utilised pitches and to adhere to the strict Tournament schedule.
- The Tournament Director reserves the right to amend the playing schedule as circumstances dictate.
Rules for Under 6’s and u7’s, 5v5
- All teams shall play by standard 5v5 2024/2025 Mini Soccer rules. (This includes the goalkeeper picking the ball up from a deliberate back kick from one of his own team).
- A goal can’t be scored direct from a centre kick.
- Under 6’s and u7’s, shall play with a size 3 football. Footballs MUST be provided by the team shown ‘at home’ in the programme and should also have at least one spare ball.
- Teams shall comprise of 5 players including the goalkeeper plus a maximum of 4 substitutes, and players may only participate in one team.
- All team players must be the specified age as per your affiliated leagues handbook. Registration cards or birth certificates may be requested at any time. If you cannot produce these your team will be disqualified. At registration all Team Manager’s are required to provide a list of players playing in their team. If more than one team is entered from that Club an alternative football team strip should be at hand if required.
- Roll on-roll off substitutes may be used at any time, with the referee’s permission, i.e. a player who has been substituted may re-enter the game as a substitute for another player.
- Substitute’s names need not be given to the referee.
- All players MUST wear shin guards. (Failure to do so will result in the player not participating in the Tournament).
- Referees will have the same powers and duties as laid down in the laws of the game. Their decisions regarding facts connected with play are final.
- Any player that is sent off via a straight red car will take no further part in the Tournament.
- There will be no offside rule applied.
- Duration of each match will be 6 minutes each way.
- Those players who are signed up with and attend a Professional Football Academy, School of Excellence or a Professional Football Club are allowed to play within the Under 7’s and Under 8’s age group.
Rules for Under 8’s
- All teams shall play by standard 2024/2025 Mini Soccer rules. (This includes the goalkeeper picking the ball up from a deliberate back kick from one of his own team).

- Under 8’s shall play with a size 3 football. Footballs MUST be provided by the team shown ‘at home’ in the programme and should also have at least one spare ball.
- Teams shall comprise of 5 or 7 players including the goalkeeper plus a maximum of 5 substitutes, and players may only participate in one team. Managers can agree to play games on either a 5v5, 6v6 or 7v7, basis. If managers are not in agreement the game will be played as a 5v5 fixture.
- All team players must be the specified age as per your affiliated leagues handbook. Registration cards or birth certificates may be requested at any time. If you cannot produce these your team will be disqualified. At registration all Team Manager’s are required to provide a list of players playing in their team. If more than one team is entered from that Club an alternative football team strip should be at hand if required.

Rules for U10’s, U11’s, U12’s & U13’s(9v9)
- The normal laws of 9v9 Football Association will apply with the following modifications.
- All free kicks will be direct and the opposition must be at least 2.75m (nine feet) away.
- Any offence by a defender inside their own penalty area will be penalised by a penalty kick. (This includes the goalkeeper picking the ball up from a deliberate back kick from one of his own team).
- A goal cannot be scored direct from a centre kick.
- There will be no offsides.
- Once the goalkeeper has possession of the ball in his hands, he is permitted to kick the ball. There will be NO restrictions on defenders or attackers entering the penalty area.
- Under 10’s and 11’s shall play with a size 4 football. Football’s MUST be provided by the team shown to be ‘at home’ in the programme and should also have at least 1 spare ball.
- Teams shall comprise of 9 players including the goalkeeper plus a maximum of 5 substitutes, and players may only participate in one team.
- All players must be the specified age as per your affiliated league handbook. Registration cards or birth certificates will be requested for all finalists and may be requested at any time. If you cannot produce these your team will be disqualified. At registration all Team Manager’s are required to provide a list of players playing in their team. If more than one team is entered from that Club an alternative football team strip should be at hand if required.

Under 6, 7’s and Under 8’s
As with the FA directive these age groups will be unable to proceed to a knockout competition. We do however actively encourage managers to stay after the structured games to play against other teams present. Our referees will stay for as long as you want to play.
Knock Out Rules
League tables
Three points will be awarded for a win and one point will be awarded for a draw.
In the event of a tie between two or more teams at the end of the league fixtures goal difference will decide the league winners. In the event of a tie on goal difference, the league winners will be determined by the team who has scored the most goals during their league fixtures. In the event of there still being a tie then a penalty shoot out will take place, best of three, with each team taking alternative penalties, if still no winner then a sudden death shoot out will decide the winner.
Quarter –Finals
The top placed finishers in each league shall meet in the age group quarter-final.
Semi-Finals
The winners of the quarter-finals will meet in the age group semi-final.
Finals
The winners of the semi-finals will meet in the age group final.
NOTES for all Finals
If scores are level at full time a penalty shoot out will take place, best of three, with each team taking alternative penalties, if still no winner then a sudden death shoot out will decide the winner.
Car Parking
Please note there will be 2 car parks available. If you are only dropping off, please use the middle main entrance car park which will also be used for Club officials and disabled parking.
